"Oh," she said, completely bypassing his question as to what Mage had said as that would raise too many questions, questions she did not want to answer. "Why are you always expecting trouble? You don't seem to be the kind of guy who is always doing something bad. You just don't have that Bad Boy aura."

John shrugged. "I guess...because alot of other people have that...Bad Boy aura. Like they are always out to get you. And it's best to be prepared for that. I would think you could relate." He replied, recalling what a bunch of students had done to her earlier that day.

"Ah, yeah, well, I don't listen to that part of my brain very often, the cautious part. I just sorta dance through life and hope that I don't twist an ankle in the process," she couldn't help but wonder why it was that she acted so carefree when she knew she shouldn't, but she dismissed that thought and told it to come back later, maybe when she was waiting for sleep to come. Instead she wondered about her new found friend, "So how did your family and everyone else react when they found out about your gift?"

"Heh." John chuckled. "That's the one part of my brain my uncle made sure I always listened to.' but he had to admit he found the care free side of Lia...appealing...and fun. But he almost froze when she asked him how his family had reacted. "Pleased." he finally replied, forcing back the wave of bad memories her question had evoked. "It meant my Mother had a place she could send me."

"You could put it that way." John replied grimly. "Assuming I ever actually had a home to be troubled. My mom's just very busy with work and doesn't really have time to take care of me." He turned to his...new friend? "What about you? Hw'd the people around you react?"

"Well, my best friend thought it was the coolest thing ever and said she was jealous. My parents didn't take it quite as well, they acted like something was wrong or like I had done something wrong. Their reaction was similar to that of a parents who finds out his kid is stealing or doing drugs, like I was a big blemish on their reputation. That is why I call my friend constantly and haven't heard from my parents in a while." She shrugged, indicating that she saw it as just one of the facts of life. "Up until that time I was part of a 'perfect' family. Now I'm independent and planning better things than I ever could have had before."

John decided not to pursue the whole subject of families. Instead, he latched onto something else she had said. "What kind of things are you planning?" he asked.

"I plan to be a hero, beyond that I don't know, but I do know I want to use these powers to help others. Why else would it be called a gift if not be used for good?" This was the main reason she spent a lot of her nights practising fighting or honing her powers, she wanted to have complete control over them and that meant practise. This was one of the few things in her life that she took seriously. "What do you plan to do?"
