Pyros was told to head for the heroic training class as his power classified under the heros act of protection 15. Pyros headed for the class where they were marking the roll. "Mary Susan?" "here" came a reply and a hand raising in the middle of the crowded class hall. "Pyros Shadow?" Pyros heard and raised a hand calling out "Here".

OOC: is Barker supposed to be taking this class?

((Yes, it is your class.))
Athalia slid in the door and walked to the back of the class, blushing profusely. Why did it seem she was always late for Mr. Barker's classes? She liked Mr. Barker, he was a good teacher, so why did life always seem to get in the way of attending his classes?

Pyros was watching as hands raised from the group and shouts of the same word kept on repeating. He hated repetition and with a passion. 'are we ever getting to the hero part?' he said to himself in mind as he saw Athalia came into class late. He always wondered why it was that a well educated student that knew her way around the school always turned up late whereas he was relatively new but always managed to arrive punctually.

"Welcome students, sorry about the wait, I was just doing a little paper work I had to finish. In future if you get here and I'm doing something like that, just sit down and make paper darts or something." he said. "Now, I doubt anyone has a text book?.. That's because there isn't one, for this you have to think carefully about all you do wieght it all up, in a fraction of a second."

Athalia listened carefully, pulling out her notebook and a mechanical pencil so she could take notes. She was looking forward to this class. Most of the students chose to attend although some did not, she didn't understand them. She had always loved superheroes and the thought that she could use her power for good was a welcome thought when put against her parents' opinion of her being a freak.

John hesitatingly slipped in the door and took a seat in the back. He wasn't sure about this whole superhero business. His uncle had always said it was best to mind your own business and let trouble take care of itself. And he wasn't sure what good his powers would do in a fight either. But he figured there was no harm in sitting in on a class. it wasn't like he was committing to anything.

"First we will be looking at ethics, the very basis of hero work, doing the right thing because you can. But you would be surprised at just how far the variations of 'the right thing' can be appart from each other. I would like to do a little compelation on the board here-" he said pulling out a white board pen and writing 'The Right Thing' up on the white board, "-of what everyone thinks the right thing is. What defines the right thing, what does that include for you. So if you want to contribute, put your hand up and I'll write it on the board. Also if you dissagree with something that's up there, put up your hand and say so. So, anyone?" Mr. Barker asked and readied his pen.

John shifted uncomfortably and decided not to raise his hand. He had some opinions about ethics, of course, but he didn't feel like being the first one to speak up.

Athalia shot her hand up and started speaking after it had been there a couple seconds, it seemed no one else was going to talk so she might as well, "I think that the right thing is different in every case, but some things can be for certain. For instance, don't hurt the innocent and try to keep them from harm, try not to kill, and to fight with honor. Those may not be exactly what you are looking for but that is what I've got so far."

Mr.Barker wrote them up on the board. "Anything else, what defines the right thing for you?"

John raised his hand hesitatingly. "Umm...the ten commandments?" he suggested. He wasn't sure if that was the kind of answer Mr. Barker was looking for, but he knew it was the kind of answer his aunt would give.

"Hmm, good answer, the ten comandments do define the right thing, but how would you apply them to hero work?" he casually asked John.

John shifted a bit uncomfortably in his seat at being singled out, beginning to wishg hew had kept his mouth shut. "Well...the 'thou shall not commit murder' command means that heroes shouldn't go around murdering people, even if they are bad guys. The punishment should be left up to the court." He stated tenatively.

Athalia's mind ran around, trying to find something to say that would help John, no one liked to be singled out. "The ten commandments were rounded up in two phrases right? And one of them was 'treat your neighbor as yourself', so if you use the Golden Rule then you could say that you should always act the bigger man, or woman. I mean granted you don't want to beat up like the villian is trying to do for you but if you take the term literally then obviously they want to be beat up themselves," she said ironically. "But I mean that saying could mean that you don't fight dirty or hit them when their down. You could merely subdue them and leave the punishment to the law."
