"Um, fine," Athalia had said quietly, shyly, to John before he had to go. She had blushed slightly when he he had nodded to her, now she watched him standing there feeling sorry for him for having to stand up there in front of everyone. 'John... He has got to be new,' she thought watching him, 'I would certainly remember someone that good looking if I had met him before. And so polite. I will have to get to know him.'

Mr.barker restaed the rules and asked john for his power.

John shifted uncomfortably. "Ummm...I have enhanced hearing." He tapped his headset. he had it tuned to normal human levels right now, which explained why he hadn't heard mr. Barker explain the rules earlier. "And I can see better then most." he replied in response to the request to explain his powers. He wondered how the teacher was going to test them. He had never really had them tested before, they had just developed a short while ago and he had had more important things to deal with.

Mr.barker stroked his goat-ee as he thought. "I think I have just the test for you..." he said and nodded up to the clone, another maze appeared. "Now, there are cloaked sim-bots in this maze, if one of them touches you, you have to return to the start. They are quite quiet, but if you hear or see them and point at them they will exit the maze. Get to the end without being touched and I'll stop the timer." he said and raised the stop watch and counted down. "Go!"

John glanced nervously at the timer. Should he just start going through the maze now and hope he found the clones before they found him? Or should he stay at the beginning, scan the maze and plan his route first? John decided on the latter. If he ran into a clone he would have to waste alot of time backtracking. John scanned the maze with his X-ray vision and determined the path to the end. he then tuned his headset so it would pick up heartbeats. No matter how quiet the clones were, they still had to have heartbeats, right? Tuning out everyone's heartbeat but the clones, he was able to focus his vision on the precise part of the maze and locate what he thought were clones, whose location he pointed out to Mr. Barker.

Athalia moved closer to the maze and listened, her hearing might be good but John's was superb. She smiled, wondering what all he could see if he looked hard enough. How well could he see in the dark and how did it show in his sight? Shades of gray like it did with her or did he see color? She wondered how long he had had these powers and how much had learned to control it already. Wondering if he would hear her she said "Hello John" in an ultra soft whisper, so low it was barely detectable to her own cat ears.

Startled, John glanced over at Athelia. Was she trying to distract him? Make him fail and look bad? Or was she just being polite? John decided to give her the benefit of the doubt and waved to her before he redirected his attention to the maze and finding the clones.

"Good luck," she whispered. 'You shouldn't have said anything, you'll jinx him, you always jinx people,' she thought but pushed down the negative voice and watched carefully, as interested in how John would do this as she was in him.

OOC: BTW they are robots not clones.

OOC: Ooops. I misread it.
John couldn't detect any heartbeats then remembered what Mr. Barker had said. They were sim-bots, not people. He probably wouldn't be able to detect them unless they were moving. Which meant he had to get in the maze and make the sim-bots come to him. Cursing himself for the time he had already wasted, John spared a second to nod at Athelia in thanks for her 'good luck' comment. 'I'm going to need it.' he thought to himself as he started through the maze. he had already determined the correct path to the end and began to jog slowly, afraid that if he ran he would hit a sim-bot. After two turns john paused when he heard what sounded like a quiet motor moving toward him. he stopped and pointed, scanning the area with his vision, hoping he could find some kind of flaw in the cloaking field so he could detect them easier.

OOC: That's alright. I'll play the sim-bots shall I.
IC/IR: The robot marked 2.1 moved slowly but surely towards the target, then the target turned towards it and it became dead still causing it's cloaking field to raise to 100%. It's photo-receptors (eyes incase anyone doesn't know) flickered and changed to radio wave detection, it noticed another sim-bot creeping up behind the student, it's cloaking at 76%.
2.4 assessed the situation, it's partner 2.1 was pinned by the target and could not moving and thus reveal itself, it was against programming. 2.4 ran through all of the algorithims in it's data bank for what to do. It decided it was to ignore 2.1 and take advantage of the focus on it's partner to continue towards the target.

'd**n it. I almost had something.' John thought as he scanned the area. He had heard something like a servo-motor and when he turned saw something out of the corner of his eye but by the time he had focused it was gone. Had he made a mistake? Or could he just not see through the cloaking field? John feared the latter was the answer...which meant he couldn't advance forward without running into the cloaked sim-bot. John heard something moving behind him and spun around. Now that he had a better idea what he was looking for he thought he saw the distortion again. John pointed at the discrepency. If he was right, according to the rules Mr. Barker had laid out, that sim-bot would have to leave, just leaving the one he thought was ahead of him. And however many more were scattered throughout the maze.

2.4 deactivated it's cloaking device and walked out of the maze and 2.1 launched itself at the target's back while it wasn't looking, but this dropped it's cloaking device to 42%.

John heard something moving behind him and dived to the side, just avoiding the sim-bot that had launched itself at him. It's cloaking field was now low enough that John could easily see it and he pointed at it, just as he had been instructed.

2.1 walked out of the maze.
