Name: Kira Louise Damson
Age: Seventeen
Grade: 12th
Gender: Female
Power: Your basic psychic abilities - the ability to "see" visions of the past and the future, though they are not always clear or accurate, the ability to sense the general feelings/moods of those around her and she can also move things with her mind, though this too is limited to small things in her direct vicinity. The biggest thing she's been able to lift independantly so far is a child of about four.
Weakness: Physical contact - she cannot bear to have anyone touch her skin, as it heightens her abilities and often causes her physical pain. She is also afraid of moths and spiders, but that doesn't really affect her ability much apart from being unable to do much when she's scared.
Physical Description:
Kira is the sort of girl you wouldn't look at twice if you passed her in the street, as she is not particularly pretty, yet not horribly ugly either. Standing at an average 5"6, with a mop of jet-black hair that falls to just below her chin and covers most of her face, you'd think she's just another emo kid.
But she isn't.
Beneath the mask of her fringe, Kira has a small, rounded face with a slightly over-long nose and large, pale green eyes framed by long, dark eyelashes. She also wears small, rectangular glasses with thick red frames at all times because she is short-sighted.
As for the rest of her, well, she's very slender, almost boyish figure-wise due to the fact that she rarely eats. This accentuates her similarity to her twin brother.
Clothes-wise, Kira is usually wearing a black T-Shirt of some description, the logo is utterly random, and scruffy denim jeans with badges attached all over. This causes her to jingle slightly as she walks! She wears black converse shoes, usually with the laces undone, and her mp3player is attached to her plain black belt at all times.
Personality:
Kira is pretty much your typical "quiet kid". She is almost painfully shy, with an almost irrational phobia of other people, or rather making a fool of herself in front of other people. She is also afraid of being wrong, something she tries to avoid at all costs. Her shy nature and slightly skittish/paranoid tendencies make her quite over-sensitive.
However behind this awkwardness is a genuinely caring, thoughtful individual. There is nothing Kira will not do for the people she calls friend, and she will not stand for them being hurt. This is because she is very empathic and often feels the same emotions as those around her, and thus doesn't like people being upset or angry.
Other bizarre personality quirks Kira has are:
She barely eats anything because she "feels like a failure" when she eats.
She is very much afraid of moths and spiders.
She never goes anywhere without her mp3 or CD player, even when it/her headphones are on the fritz.
She sometimes puts on a very cheerful and happy face when she's down.
She hates people worrying about her.
She worries about everyone else constantly.
She always downplays good things about herself, claiming it's no big deal.
History:
Kira's early life has been quite normal, if you want to call it that. Though she comes from a single-parent household, she has a big family, all of whome have so-called "gifts", and is not particularly proud of it. She dislikes most of her family, the exceptions being her mother, her twin brother and her eldest sister.
The main reason behind this is that Kira was picked on constantly by two of her other siblings, and being the youngest it effected her profoundly.
Unfortunately, the bullying and teasing continued into her late childhood and early adolescence, and not just from her siblings. At her original school there was a small group of bullies who ganged up on her at every opportunity, making fun of her name, the way she looked, the way she acted and, of course, her strange abilities.
Kira retreated into herself, frightened by the world around her, the place where she just didn't fit, no matter how hard she tried. This seclusion from others led her to find music, where she fell in love with many bands who combined the rock music Kira loved with beautiful melodies and harmonies and lyrics that actually meant something.
She was sent to Dynatos as a last-ditch effort on the part of her mother to get the girl to do something with her life, and although the initial separation from her twin hurt her badly, she survived and has come out of her shell somewhat.
Other:
Kira's family consists of her mother and her five older siblings; Alexis, Julien, Max, Samantha and of course, Kira's twin brother Darren. All have gifts, and all except Darren attended Dynatos in the past.
Roleplay Sample:
Was this some sort of dream? Why had she come here? When was she going to get out of here?
These were the things that zoomed through the mind of the young girl sitting beneath a large birch tree.
Well, she wasn't so much sitting as leaning against it, feeling the rough bark rubbing against her back. It was almost comforting to her, in a world where everything was totally nonsensical, a world that had been turned upside down.
There was a faint breeze ruffling past her, but it didn't faze the quiet girl. In fact, if you didn't look closely you'd think she was a doll, she was so still. Her porcelain-white skin was unmoving, her eyes closed behind a pair of black, thick-framed glasses perched atop a turned-up nose. Short, messy raven-black hair fell madly around her pointed face, but she didn't seem to notice.
The one thing that made her smile was the crescent-shaped necklace she had picked up, which was fastened tightly around her neck. It was beautiful, embedded with amber, placed on a beautiful silver chain, and Kira loved it. She'd found it in the river near her mother's farm, and had refused to give it to her siblings, keeping it a secret from even her twin brother. She felt warm when she held it, just as she was doing now, the golden crescent clasped in her slender hands. It was a very nice feeling, almost like she was meant to have this beautiful stone for her very own. She sighed, and her eyelids flickering open to reveal rather dull pale green eyes that glanced over the horizon.
She tilted her head to one side and sighed. Time for class ...
"We sure aren't in Kansas anymore, Toto." she muttered, hauling herself to her feet, her long limbs stretching languidly towards the sky. Then, shuffling her feet shyly, she wandered out across the grounds and towards the beautiful building in the distance, occasionally scuffing her shoes on the tarmac to scruff them up even more.
