In the midst of a dense forest in the mountains of mid-America is a plot of land surrounded by a high, strong iron fence. If you start walking from on corner of the fence and down one side he would walk for one hundred miles, each side of the fence is just as long as the first and there is only one road, a gravel road through two gates.
Should one gain admittance through the gate he would drive down the straight lane for two miles and then come to another fence, though this one is a picket fence and much less forbid looking. In a guard building next to a mechanical gate, is a large fat man who upon your stop next to his window asks you to state your business. Should the correct answer be given the gate will be opened and admittance, along with directions to meet your goal, will be granted. You follow the directions of the guard and turn onto a paved road.
After driving twenty-five miles the woods clear out and a large, majestic building comes into view. It is white mansion with a grey roof and aqua canopies over the windows. All around the mansion is well kept landscaping with perfectly trimmed shrubs and healthy trees.
As you stop the car under the portico in the circular driveway a woman in her fifties steps out of the beautiful building and stands waiting for you come to her. As you do she opens her arms wide and says with a smile, “Welcome to Dynatos Youth Institute.”
The front of D.Y. Institutes is merely the beginning of its splendor. It has a main center section, the Mains, where all of the staff lives and a large common room is underground. To the left of the center section is the East Wing, it is the girls’ dorms, two ladies to a room, and has several rooms along with a common room. On the opposite side on the Mains, is the West Wing, which is identical to the East Wing except that it is the boys’ wing.
The foyer of D.Y. Institute is open and elegant, with a reception desk in the middle of it where sits the secretary of the school. To the left and right of the secretary’s round domain are two doors leading the Headmistress’ and Deputy Headmaster’s offices respectively.
Behind the Mains and both wings is a large pool and several gardens. Leading off from the back of the Dynatos Mansion are several trails.
Leading from the large underground common room under the Mains are several well lit and secure tunnels that lead to such places as the stables, the docks beside Charisma Lake, the gyms, the classes, the close by Mess Hall, and Xenos. They are below the trails that lead out from the Mansion to the same places.
The stables are run by the students; each student is responsible for his or her own horse and the caretaking of that animal. Most detentions are spent doing work at the stables, and all punishment work is supervised by the Stable Master, he also makes sure that the students take good care of the animals.
Charisma Lake is a dainty lake that rest in part of the land surrounding Dynatos and Xenos. It has docks where paddle boats, row boats, a few speed boats, and some party barges rest. All boats must be signed out at the office, where the keys are kept. Charisma is also good for swimming if the pool does not meet one’s fancy.
The gyms are not only three large gymnasiums but are also surrounded by areas for other sports, such as tennis, baseball, soccer, football, etc. There is also one very large gym for the use of power training.
The actually school is a large red brick building that does not look much different from a normal private school, it has several class rooms, a teacher’s lounge, lockers, and nearly everything else that would fit there except for a gym.
All meals are taken in the Mess Hall; it is large and is constantly changing its menu. The food is good and diverse; it also has areas for students who wish to make their own dishes.
Finally there is Xenos, the all mutant town close to Dynatos. It is a large place, with a population of about 7,000, not including the students. Mostly only mutants live in Dynatos although marriage and some non-mutant children have cause humans to reside there also. Dynatos is technically inside of the city limits but is on the outskirts and the students are not counted in the population of the town due to the kids coming and going to the and from the outside world.
It is one of the few purely mutant run and catered to towns in America, it has a grocery store, a strip mall, movie theater, arcade, teen dance club, amusement park, hotels, Super-Mart, book store, music store, video store, pizza shop, Italian, Chinese, and Mexican restaurants, burger shop, library, a court house, jail, lawyer agency, detective agency, and anything else a town needs to survive. It is mostly independent, except for shipping things in and out of the town, a job that is done without letting unchecked humans in.
Jobs are usually available for students in Dynatos if they are wishful of earning a little extra money. There are festivals as different times throughout the year, including a huge New Year’s party, end of school blowout, and town wide back to school sales. Xenos brings in a large amount of mutant tourists along with some humans who get along with mutants. A picket fence surrounds the whole area of Xenos, Charisma, and Dynatos telling people when they are leaving the safety of Xenos. Two miles beyond the picket fence at every point is a tall wrought iron fence that tells mutants that they are now away from Xenos and in the outside world where they might be harmed.
Outside of the Xenos fence is another town, Morgan, where several humans and mutants live together, although not always peaceable. It is your normal town, though notably smaller than Xenos. It has the necessities, but not much else; it is so small that all the human children go to the Greyborn County schools. The third keyword is comewhatmay. Some of the nicer parents of mutant children live here, along with mutants who wanted to be out in the world but not to far from the safety of Xenos. It is also the site of some hidden human-mutant fights.
